J F Polo Academy

Pony Club Polo

Our academy offers Pony Club badge training days or regular lessons to all pony clubs.

Club mangers can contact us to secure their dates and confirm final numbers

once they have had chance to advertise to their clubs.

We can provide the ponies, the facility and the equipment!

On The Yard

We take your club through everything that is needed to keep you and your polo pony safe. Riders get the opportunity to practice bandaging, putting up tails, tacking up and fitting boots. We also discuss pony welfare and what to look for in a polo pony (conformation and behaviour).

Theory & Swings

Your HPA polo instructor uses a fun tactics board to explain the layout of a polo field and demonstrate polo rules and tactical play.

Riders then get the opportunity to learn the different swings by using the wooden horses or short mallets.

Tactical Play

Riders learn how to neck rein and hold a half seat before going into a stick and ball lesson (hitting the ball whilst riding).

The next stage is to pair up and practice the tactual play; including ride offs and hooking.

Chukkas

A fun way to finish the day!

Each group will be split into teams to play a fun match (chukkas) against each other. Your instructor will monitor the match and give instructions throughout

Pony Club Championship
